Змееголовы (Channa argus) — это уникальные рыбы, которые внешне сильно напоминают змей. Рыбы могут жить на суше благодаря наличию лабиринтового органа. Обычно рыбы получают кислород из воды используя жабры, но змееголовы способны дышать атмосферным воздухом. Лабиринтовый орган состоит из множества складок, которые покрыты тонкой кожей и пронизаны кровеносными сосудами. Когда кислород попадает в лабиринтовый орган, он сразу же попадает в кровеносную систему. Считается, что они могут жить на суше по несколько дней. Главное, чтобы их тела оставались влажными — для этого они могут закапываться во влажный ил или почву.
