Когда люди начали носить нижнее белье
Точно сказать, когда впервые появилось нижнее белье, в настоящее время невозможно, так как никаких его образцов не осталось. Известно, что у древних греков его прообразом был хитон — подобие рубашки без рукавов, сотканной из льна или шерсти. У римлян роль нижнего белья выполняла туника, а у египтян — набедренная повязка.
Первое же письменное упоминание о трусах датируется XIV веком нашей эры, и принадлежит итальянскому писателю и поэту Франко Саккетти. В своих трудах он с сарказмом отзывался о тех людях, которые “засовывают свои зады в крохотный чулок (кальцетто)”. В изобразительном искусстве трусы первый раз были изображены еще позже — в XV веке. На фреске “Фонтан молодости” можно заметить раздевающихся старцев и одевающихся юношей в трусах.

Согласно некоторым источникам, по Европе нижнее белье начало распространяться только в XVI веке, и это были мужские трусы. Женские же трусы появились впервые в Англии только в конце XVIII века. Однако многие историки утверждают, что в современном понимании трусов не существовало до XIX века. До этого времени мужчины в основном обходились подштанниками, или кальсонами, а женщины вовсе не носили нижнее белье.
Но, вполне возможно, что некий его прообраз появился гораздо раньше, чем можно себе представить — в позднем плейстоцене, то есть около 40 тысяч лет назад. Причем появилось белье, судя по всему, в знаменитой Денисовской пещере, в которой в разное время жили денисовцы, неандертальцы и современные люди.

Нижнее белье впервые появилось 40 тысяч лет назад?
Как уже было сказано выше, люди начали постоянно носить одежду примерно 170 тысяч лет назад. Неизвестно, как именно они ее шили, однако ученые точно знают, что 70 тысяч лет назад для этого использовали костяные шила. Они достаточно простые в изготовлении, но при этом позволяли шить одежду из любых шкур животных.
Однако примерно 40 тысяч лет назад стали появляться иглы с ушком, изготовление которых гораздо более трудоемкое. Ученые в своем исследовании, опубликованном в журнале Science Advances, задаются вопросом — зачем люди стали изготавливать иглы, когда для шитья базовой одежды из шкур вполне достаточно шил?
Также исследователи обращают внимание на то, что появление более сложного инструмента для шитья совпало с резким падением глобальной температуры. По мнению авторов, людям понадобилось больше слоев одежды. Иглы с ушком позволяли шить “более утонченную” одежду, которая надевалась под основную. Проще говоря, люди, скорее всего, стали шить подобие нижнего белья, которое позволяло удерживать теплый воздух у поверхности кожи, и таким образом помогало спасаться от холодов.
Как говорят сами авторы исследования, связь между иглами с ушком и физиологической потребностью в облегающей, термоэффективной одежде очевидна. Разумеется, такая одежда должна была быть более аккуратной, и сложной, поэтому для нее потребовался новый инструмент.
Когда возникла мода
Возникновение моды исследователи тоже связывают с периодом, когда людям пришлось утепляться. Дело в том, что до начала ледникового периода наши предки самовыражались путем украшения тела.
