Как был разрушен библейский город Гат
В Библии сообщается, что город Гат захватили войска Азаила, правителя Арам-Дамаска. Предыдущие исследования руин на археологическом участке Тель-эс-Сафи, где находится город, показали, что город был разрушен примерно в 830 году до нашей эры.
Однако определить причину разрушения города Гат оказалось гораздо сложнее, чем городов Содом и Гоморра. Но как отличить кирпичи, которые были обожжены в печи, от тех, которые подверглись термическому воздействию в результате пожара уже после строительства стены? На самом деле все очень просто — во всех кирпичах после пожара магнитное поле будет иметь одинаковое направление, так как они зафиксировали бы направление магнитного поля Земли в одно и то же время, и в одном и том же месте.
Кирпичи же, обожженные в печи, если стена не подверглась пожару, имеют разнонаправленное магнитное поле, так как они укладываются в произвольной ориентации. То есть ферромагнитные частицы имеют одинаково ориентированное магнитное поле только в пределах одного кирпича, но не всей стены.
Чтобы выяснить, выровнены ли магнитные поля кирпичей, ученые использовали термическое размагничивание. Данный метод подразумевает нагревание материала, в результате чего он размагничивается. Причем это происходит в тот момент, когда температура достигает того же показателя, при котором материал изначально был намагничен.
