Гидропонные установки для выращивания растений
Давно известно, что растения используют электрические сигналы так же, как это делают нервные клетки человека. Электрические импульсы проходят через ткани растений, вызывая движения или предупреждая организм о нанесенных ранах. В своем исследовании ученые использовали эти же электрические сигналы, чтобы ускорить рост растений.
Надо сказать, что ранее уже проводились эксперименты с электричеством, с целью повышения урожайности культур. Ученые подвергали рассаду ячменя, гороха и некоторых других растений воздействию мощных электрических полей, и добились положительного результата. На этот раз шведская команда разработала маломощную гидропонную систему, что позволило существенно снизить энергозатраты. Во время эксперимента авторы работы подавали небольшое напряжение на проростки ячменя. Эксперимент длился беспрерывно в течение пяти дней.

Гидропоника позволяет выращивать растения в течение всего года, при этом требуется меньше удобрений. В настоящее время гидропонику применяют для выращивания растений в экстремальных условиях, например, в Антарктиде. Как сообщают исследователи, у растений после электростимуляции и последующего 15-дневного роста было на 50% больше ткани в пересчете на сухой вес. Кроме того, они были на 30% длине, чем растения, которые не подвергались электрическому воздействию. Об этом исследователи сообщают в издании PNAS.
Пока непонятно как именно воздействие электричеством ускоряет рост растений. Согласно одной из версий, после электрической стимуляции растения по какой-то причине лучше поглощают питательные вещества. Однако, как сообщается в исследовании, спустя 15 дней в проростках содержалось одинаковое количество азота, независимо от того, подвергались они воздействию электричества или нет.

В результате последующих исследований выяснилось, что стимулированные электричеством растения более эффективно перерабатывают нитрат с более низким уровнем неорганического соединения азота. То есть растения превращают его в азотсодержащую биомассу. Но, как именно это происходит, пока не ясно.
Самое интересное, что скачок роста растений произошел не во время электростимуляции, и даже не сразу после нее, а только спустя пять дней после отключения электродов. В целом же исследование показало, что даже небольшие и короткие дозы электростимуляции способны увеличить скорость роста. Вполне возможно, что при более длительной или периодической электростимуляции скорость роста увеличится еще больше. Но даже 50% — это хороший результат.
