Как сообщают сотрудники Манчестерского университета, лотерейный билет содержит 45 057 474 различных комбинаций. Однако, чтобы получить минимальный выигрыш, не обязательно угадывать все шесть номеров, достаточно правильно назвать хотя бы два номера. В таком случае, чтобы выиграть, а точнее, сделать вероятность выигрыша высокой, необходимо купить 27 билетов, о чем сообщается в недавнем исследовании, которое еще не прошло рецензирование. Правда, за два угаданных номера, согласно правилам национальной лотереи Великобритании, бесплатно предоставляется лишь еще один лотерейный билет, но не деньги.

Для своих расчетов авторы исследования использовали плоскости Фано, то есть геометрическое построения в виде треугольников. Пары чисел нанесены на эти треугольники или вписаны внутрь. Прямые линии или окружности, которые содержат плоскости Фано внутри треугольников, соединяют пары чисел. Каждая линия проходит через три пары чисел, образуя комбинацию из шести возможных выигрышных номеров.
Сами авторы сообщают, что их задача заключалась не в том, чтобы выиграть в лотерею, а просто выяснить какое наименьшее возможное количество билетов необходимо купить, чтобы получить хотя бы минимальный выигрыш, который дается за два угаданных номера. В итоге доказать, что вы не сможете выиграть с 26 билетами, оказалось очень сложно. А выигрышное количество, как мы сказали выше — 27 билетов.

По словам авторов исследования, их расчеты работают до тех пор, пока вы не начинаете играть в лотерею. Конечно, купив 27 билетов, вы скорее всего выиграете. Вполне возможно, что выигрышных будет даже несколько билетов. К примеру, авторы исследования, купили 27 билетов из которых три оказались выигрышными. В результате они получили еще три билета бесплатно. Однако ни один из этих трех билетов не принес им успеха.
В итоге затраты на покупку лотерейных билетов составили более 68 долларов США. Поэтому результаты исследования являются скорее интригующим математическим решением, но совсем не способом быстрого заработка.
Многие люди покупают лотерейные билеты в расчете “на удачу”, забывая, что за лотереей, как и азартными играми в казино, стоит банальная математика и теория вероятности. И все расчеты, разумеется, выполнены совсем не в пользу игрока. Стали бы вы выполнять какое-то действие, если бы заранее знали, что шансы на успех составляют один к нескольким миллионам?
