На восточном побережье США в период с июля по август умерли 5 человек, заразившиеся плотоядными бактериями Vibrio vulnificus. Эти смертоносные микроорганизмы стали обитать в прибрежных водах, где ранее их никогда не было. Три человека заразились в Северной Каролине, один в Нью-Йорке, и еще один в Коннектикуте. Центр по контролю и профилактике заболеваний (CDC) на днях сделал заявление, в котором предупредил людей о рисках, связанных с плотоядными бактериями, а также призвал медиков и обычных людей быть в состоянии повышенной готовности. Дело в том, что смертность от этой инфекции довольно высокая — умирает как один человек из пяти зараженных. Причем смерть часто наступает в течение нескольких дней после заражения.

Откуда взялась опасная бактерия у побережья США
Не так давно мы уже рассказывали о бактериях Vibrio vulnificus, так как они начали активно размножаться на пластиковом мусоре в океане. Причем ученые обнаружили среди мусора сразу несколько видов вибрионов. Теперь же эти бактерии стали заражать людей у восточного побережья США. Это не типичная ситуация, так как ранее они обитали в более теплых водах мексиканского залива, особенно в период с мая по октябрь.
Эксперты связывают нынешнюю ситуацию с повышением температуры воды у побережья. Волны тепла нынешним летом привели к тому, что вода в этот период времени стала гораздо теплее чем обычно. Следует отметить, что ученые фиксируют расширение ареала обитания V. vulnificus с 1988 года. Причем этот показатель составлял 48 километров в год, о чем сообщалось в одном из исследований. Расширение ареала обитания, очевидно, связано с глобальным потеплением климата.

Кроме того, появлению опасной бактерии у побережья США также способствовали экстремальные погодные условия. Ураганы, наводнения и штормы «выталкивает» вибрионы в нетипичные для них регионы.
Как можно заразиться вибрионами
V. vulnificus в качестве среды обитания выбирают теплую соленую воду. Люди обычно ими заражаются при контакте с зараженной водой, особенно высокий риск заражения возникает при наличии на теле открытых ран, о чем сообщает CDC в своем заявлении. Также заразиться можно при потреблении сырых или недоваренных морепродуктов в пищу.
Инфекция, вызванная V. vulnificus, имеет короткий инкубационный период, то есть с момента заражения до появления первых симптомов проходит совсем немного времени. Как правило, после заражения возникает диарея, спазмы желудка, тошнота и лихорадка. При этом происходит некротизация тканей кожи и других мягких тканей, так как бактерии их буквально уничтожают. Иногда людям приходится ампутировать конечности, чтобы остановить распространение некротического фасциита, то есть поражение тканей. Нередко бактерии поражают органы зрения.

У людей при заражении часто возникают кровоточащие волдыри. Если своевременно не принять меры, инфекция распространяется по всему организму и вызывает заражение крови, которое часто становится причиной летального исхода. Поэтому выживаемость зависит от того, насколько быстро человек обратился за медицинской помощью.
Бактерия особенно опасна для людей с хроническими заболеваниями, такими как болезни печени, диабет, а также состояния, которые приводят к ослаблению иммунной системы.
Как избежать заражения вибрионами
CDC советует людям подальше держаться от соленой воды, особенно, если на теле есть раны или царапины. В случае пореза во время плавания, необходимо немедленно выйти из воды и промыть рану чистой водой с мылом. А самое главное — немедленно обратиться за медицинской помощью.
Люди часто заражаются вибрионами через устриц
После контакта с морепродуктами, особенно моллюсками, необходимо тщательно мыть руки. Сами же продукты необходимо тщательно готовить. Разумеется, следует отказаться от употребления сырых устриц. По данным CDC ежегодно из-за несоблюдения этих мер безопасности только в США вибрионами заражается порядка 80 тысяч человек ежегодно. Теперь же эта цифра может резко возрасти.
