Как сообщается в исследовании, преимущество ребенка, родившегося в начале года, на долго сохраняется перед детьми, родившимися в конце года. Чтобы сделать такие выводы, авторы работы проследили как от возраста зависит количество баллов, которые четвероклассники набирают в тестах по математике и естественным наукам.
Наблюдения показали, что дети, которые были старше, набирали на 4-12% больше баллов, чем ученики, которые были младше. Также специалисты утверждают, что детей в детсадах и начальных классах во многих странах делят на группы по уровню способностей. Однако фактически учителя путают такие понятия, как развитость и способности.
В результате ученики, которые старше, попадают в группу продвинутых детей. В этих группах им уделяют больше внимания, в результате на следующий год они также показывают более высокие результаты. На самом же деле их успех связан лишь с более старшим возрастом. Но не во всех странах существует такая практика деления детей на группы. Очевидно, от нее лучше отказаться вовсе.
