Причина в том, что выбросы пыли, пепла и сажи в результате пожаров заблокирую доступ солнечным лучам к поверхности Земли. Это приведет к снижению средней температуры, то есть настанет ядерная зима, из-за которой весь мир столкнется с неурожаями и голодом. От этого может погибнуть гораздо больше людей, чем от самих ядерных ударов.
По оценке экспертов, в случае обмена ядерными ударами между США и Россией, на которые приходится почти 90% всего ядерного оружия в мире, в атмосферу будет выброшено до 165 миллионов тонн сажи. В результате температура понизится на 9 градусов по Цельсию. Это приведет к снижению производства продуктов на 90%.

Альтернативный источник пищи на случай ядерной войны
В недавнем исследовании, опубликованном в журнале Earth’s Future, ученые утверждают, что в течение первого года после ядерной войны люди смогут добывать водоросли, выращенные в Мексиканском заливе, а также по всему восточному побережью Америки и в других регионах планеты. Это позволит прокормить до 1,2 миллиарда человек.
По мнению авторов исследования, фермы по выращиванию морских водорослей смогут заменить до 15% продуктов питания, которые производятся в настоящее время. Кроме того, они позволят на 50% заменить существующее биотопливо и на 10% обеспечат животных кормом. Это, конечно, не так много, однако следует учитывать, что население планеты тоже сократится из-за ядерных ударов и их последствий, как бы это жутко ни звучало.

Морские водоросли относительно устойчивы к перепадам температур и различным неблагоприятным условиям. Поэтому их можно выращивать в широком диапазоне условий окружающей среды. Кроме того, они невероятно питательны — кроме основных углеводов, белков и жиров, содержат большое количество микроэлементов, таких как магний, цинк, витамин B12, йод, полиненасыщенные жирные кислоты и пр.
