Американский космический аппарат Odysseus частной компании Intuitive Machines успешно сел на поверхность естественного спутника Земли. Это знаковое событие сразу по нескольким причинам, причем не только для США. Впервые в истории поверхности Луны достиг аппарат частного производства. Напомним, что ранее все попытки заканчивались неудачей. Кроме того, это первый американский аппарат, который прилунился впервые после завершения миссии Apollo. Но самое главное, что на борту посадочного модуля было оборудование NASA, которое будет использовано для изучения лунной поверхности и подготовки к будущим пилотируемым миссиям.

Американский посадочный модуль Odysseus успешно прилунился
Первая посадка на Луну впервые за 50 лет
По данным НАСА, посадка возле южного полюса Луны состоялась в 0:23 по Москве. Аппарат стартовал с Земли 15 февраля. Напомним, что в космос посадочный модуль доставила ракета SpaceX Falcon 9, которая была запущена с мыса Канаверал. Космический аппарат “Одиссей” вышел на лунную орбиту 21 февраля. После одного витка над лунной поверхностью, аппарат замедлился для посадки.
Надо сказать, что посадка прошла не без приключений. Вначале во время полета возникли некоторые “технические проблемы”, из-за которых она задержалась на несколько часов. Но наиболее опасная ситуация возникла во время снижения высоты в связи с неисправностью посадочных лазерных дальномеров космического корабля, что заставило инженеров миссии существенно понервничать. Фактически, некоторое время корабль не мог оценивать расстояние до поверхности Луны.

Однако довольно быстро инженерам удалось исправить ситуацию и запустить резервный лазер, которым был оснащен корабль. В результате посадка завершилась успешно. Следует отметить, что космический корабль прилунился не на самом южном полюсе, а недалеко от кратера Малаперт А.
Данный регион давно интересует ученых наличием здесь водяного льда, который может стать источником ракетного топлива. Напомним, что ранее поблизости Южного полюса прилунился индийский посадочный модуль Чандраян-3.
Какие задачи у миссии Одиссей
Миссия “Одиссей” стала частью программы NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services. Она была учреждена для стимулирования разработки частных лунных кораблей. То есть, согласно задачам этой программы, НАСА будет использовать частные аппараты для получения необходимых данных о Луне для подготовки будущей пилотируемой миссии.
Как говорят сами представители агентства, сегодняшний день показал перспективность такого сотрудничества с частными компаниями. Теперь НАСА собирается заключить с Intuitive Machines, контракт на транспортировку на Луну научного оборудования и других грузов.

Что касается нынешней миссии, НАСА отправило на борту аппарата шесть полезных грузов, среди которых набор камер, предназначенных для изучения поведения лунной пыли. Однако времени на исследование Луны осталось не так много — всего неделя, после чего начнется лунная ночь, которая длится четырнадцать земных суток.
Вероятность того, что аппарат “переживет” ночь и сможет продолжить свою миссию крайне мала, так как в этот момент не только отсутствует источник энергии, то есть Солнце, но и температура опускается до критических значений. По словам технического директора Intuitive Machines Тима Крейна, пока неизвестно, сможет ли миссия достичь своих целей из-за ограничения во времени.

Напоследок отметим, что посадка на Луну все еще является очень сложной задачей. За последние годы было совершено девять попыток, однако своей цели смогли добиться только четыре аппарата. Пять же, среди которых российский аппарат “Луна-25” потерпели неудачу. К слову, в прошлом месяце неудачу также потерпела другая американская миссия Peregrine компании Astrobotic Technology.
