Как сообщает Стив Альтемус, исполнительный директор компании Intuitive Machines, с посадочным модулем есть связь, он жив и находится на запланированном месте посадки или рядом возле него. Однако во время посадки аппарат упал, и в настоящее время лежит на боку. По этой причине его антенны не направлены на Землю, в связи с чем возможности передачи данных сильно ограничены.
Инженеры Intuitive Machines работают над тем, чтобы получить больше данных от космического корабля. Но уже сейчас можно предположить, что многие задачи, которые были поставлены НАСА, выполнены в итоге не будут. Однако миссия могла завершиться вообще полным крушением космического корабля, и от этого ее спасла счастливая случайность.

Что спасло аппарат “Одиссей” от полного крушения
Как мы уже рассказывали, во время полета космического аппарата «Одиссей» возникло несколько технических проблем. Из-за одной их них посадочный модуль приступил к посадке на несколько часов позже, чем планировалось. Это было связано с тем, что аппарат должен был выйти на круговую орбиту Луны на высоте 62 мили (около 100 км) над поверхностью спутника. Но из-за неточностей траектории он оказался на эллиптической орбите. В результате пришлось запустить двигатель и изменить траекторию, чтобы перейти на необходимую орбиту.
После необходимых действий “Одиссей” начал посадку. Для расчета расстояния от аппарата до поверхности Луны, диспетчеры включил лазерные дальномеры (LiDAR), которые направляют лазерные импульсы на Луну. Именно они и поставили всю миссию под угрозу. Как выяснилось — лазеры не работали. Шансы совершить удачную посадку без лазерного дальномера отсутствовали практически полностью.
Операторы стали думать как решить проблему. К счастью, такая возможность была, так как на борту находился экспериментальный прибор НАСА “Навигационный доплеровский лидар”, который имеет три луча, позволяющих контролировать не только высоту, но и скорость космического корабля при спуске. Однако инженерам нужно было изменить программное обеспечение так, чтобы прибор НАСА передавал свои данные бортовому компьютеру наведения, навигации и управления.

Аппарат мог потерпеть крушение из-за неисправных лазерных дальномеров
Как говорят сами инженеры, в обычной обстановке создание такого программного обеспечения заняло бы месяц. Однако они смогли решить поставленную задачу за полтора часа. Но даже этот запас времени у них появился только благодаря тому, что аппарат оказался на неправильной орбите и посадка задержалась. Если бы расчет оказался точным, и космический корабль сразу перешел на круговую орбиту, он бы наверняка разбился о поверхность Луны, так как неисправность была бы обнаружена гораздо позже.
Почему космический корабль перевернулся
Чтобы запустить новое программное обеспечение, инженерам пришлось перезагрузить бортовой компьютер. Это было еще одной проблемой, так как на некоторое время корабль должен был остаться без управления. Диспетчеры нашли способ, как это сделать, чтобы не обречь аппарат на гибель. Однако что-то все равно пошло не так. Система навигации показала, что «Одиссей» снижается быстрее, чем было необходимо, и двигается в бок, а не вертикально.

Японский аппарат во время посадки на Луну в январе тоже перевернулся
Скорее всего, из-за бокового движения одна из опор зацепилась за поверхность, в результате чего космический корабль опрокинулся. Возможно, одна из шести опор шасси аппарата в этот момент сломалось. Надо сказать, что японский посадочный модуль тоже перевернулся при посадке в январе нынешнего года. К слову, он все еще находится в рабочем состоянии.
