Что касается вкусовых рецепторов в других частях тела, то они выполняют то же самое действие — определяют питательные вещества. Однако мы не чувствуем вкус этих веществ, так как эти рецепторы не связаны с той частью мозга, которая отвечает за определение вкуса. Отсюда возникает вопрос, зачем они вообще нужны в таком случае?
Какие задачи выполняют вкусовые рецепторы вне языка
Когда ученые обнаружили на языке новые молекулы с новой функцией, дали название им “вкусовые рецепторы”. Однако теперь ученые приходят к выводу о том, что это название не совсем корректное. Как уже было сказано выше, вкусовые рецепторы нашли далеко за пределами языка. Например, они выстилают кишечник человека, где точно так же обнаруживают определенные химические вещества, что позволяет кишечнику регулировать пищеварение.
Однако язык и кишечник объединяет то, что они относятся к пищеварительной системе. Поэтому обнаружение в этой части тела вкусовых рецепторов не стало чем-то удивительным. Однако впоследствии ученые стали находить их и в других частях тела.

Вкусовые рецепторы были обнаружены в кишечнике
Например, рецепторы сладкого вкуса нашли в бета-клетках поджелудочной железы. Как выяснилось, они помогают регулировать инсулин, о чем сообщалось в исследовании 2014 года. Но поджелудочная железа, как и кишечник, выделяют химические вещества в ответ на химические сигналы, получаемые от вкусовых рецепторов. Поэтому их нахождение здесь тоже является вполне логичным.
Тогда ученые пошли еще дальше — стали проводить исследования, и обнаруживать вкусовые рецепторы в самых неожиданных частях тела, например, в сердечной мышце, жировых отложениях, скелетных мышцах, мочевом пузыре, мозге, трахее и легких т.д.
Причем в каждом из органов они выполняют ту или иную задачу. Например, Рецепторы горького вкуса, которые были обнаружены в дыхательных путях мышей, связаны с регуляцией дыхания. Также рецепторы горького вкуса и вкуса умами ученые обнаружили в семенниках. Когда их отключили, у мышей стало уменьшаться количество сперматозоидов.
