Ученые проанализировали данные Британского биобанка, который является одной из самых крупных биомедицинских баз данных для исследований. В своей работе они изучили информацию почти о 250 тысячах людей и проанализировали их состояние здоровья на протяжении более десяти лет. Основная задача исследования заключалась в изучении взаимосвязи между диабетом второго типа и недосыпанием.
Средний показателем продолжительности сна среди людей составлял 7-8 часов. Однако было много людей, которые недосыпали. Их данные ученые разделили на три группы: экстремальное недосыпание (сон три-четыре часа в сутки), умеренное недосыпание (пять часов) и легкое недосыпание (шесть часов).
Также ученые проанализировали данные о рационе людей, так как именно рацион является одним из ключевых факторов развития диабета. Как и ожидалось, у людей, которые питались здоровой пищей, риск развития диабеты был ниже. Однако, когда люди спали менее шести часов, вероятность развития диабета второго типа даже у них сильно повышалась.
