Ученые займутся пересадкой головы
Как сообщает Хашам Аль-Гайли, руководитель BrainBridge, задача проекта заключается в том, чтобы раздвинуть границы возможного в медицинской науке и предоставить инновационные возможности. Согласно задумке, пересадка головы станет возможна, так как голова долго не будет находиться вне тела. Два робота будут делать одновременно две операции, а как только обе головы будут отделены от дел, живую голову сразу соединят с живым телом. При этом во время пересадки в боксе будут поддерживаться оптимальные условия, которые предотвратят быструю дегенерацию тканей.
Донорами могут стать молодые, здоровые люди, которые по тем или иным причинам перенесли смерть мозга, например, в результате травм, перенесенных нейродегенеративных заболеваний и т.д. Как заявляет стартап, после того, как голова человека получит новое тело, он не утратит свои воспоминания и когнитивные способности. То есть человек останется тем же, кем и был до операции, но только в новом теле.
При этом авторы проекта делают смелое заявление о том, что голова человека сможет просуществовать несколько сотен лет, если периодически ее пересаживать на новое тело. Это значит, что пересадка головы может быть еще и путем к продлению жизни. Звучит все как фантастика, и скорее всего является фантастикой.

Тема пересадки головы или отдельно мозга, уже давно затрагивается в различной фантастической литературе и фильмах. Разумеется, она привлекает не только фантастов, но и многих ученых. Одним из первопроходцев в этой области стал американский нейрохирург Роберт Дж. Уайт, который в 1970 году впервые в истории успешно пересадил голову обезьяне. В основе идеи Серджио Канаверо заложен тот же принцип, что и проекте BrainBridge — использование полиэтиленгликоля (ПЭГ), то есть специального вещества для сращивания разорванных нервов. Однако по мнению ряда специалистов, ПЭГ может быть эффективен при лечении поврежденных периферических нервов, но не восстановления всей нервной системы. И это далеко не единственная проблема, с которой придется столкнуться ученым.
Если команде BrainBridge удастся обеспечить необходимую скорость и условия пересадки головы, чтобы не допустить отмирания тканей, можно предположить, что человек переживет операцию.
