Под выносливостью мы подразумеваем способность человеческого организма длительное время подвергаться физической нагрузке без снижения работоспособности, а также быстрое восстановление после такой нагрузки. Давно известно, что выносливость связана с аэробной способностью. Под этим термином подразумевают объем кислорода, который может усваивать организм человека ежеминутно во время интенсивной физической нагрузки.
Аэробная способность измеряется в миллилитрах кислорода, потребляемых в минуту на 1 килограмм массы тела человека. Средний показатель обычного человека составляет порядка 30 миллилитров/мин/кг. У лучших же спортсменов он может достигать 80 или даже 90 мл/мин/кг.
