Также у этих животных много лимфоцитов, которые реагируют на новые инфекции и защищают организм от заболеваний. Наконец, голые землекопы имеют «встроенную» защиту от рака.

Изначально считалось, что эти грызуны обладают непоколебимым иммунитетом к раку. Однако, в 2016 году, ученые нашли несколько особей с этим страшным заболеванием. Но это не отменяет факта, что землекопы болеют раком реже других млекопитающих. Считается, что защиту от рака им обеспечивает высокое содержание в тканях тела гиалуроновой кислоты.

Ученые нашли лекарство от старости?
Недавно исследователи из США, в сотрудничестве с коллегами из других стран, решили передать способность вырабатывать большое количество гиалуроновой кислоты лабораторным мышам. Для этого они модифицировали у них ген nmrHas2 и начали следить за изменениями в продолжительности жизни. Оказалось, что да — генная модификация увеличила длительность жизни лабораторных мышей на 4,4%. Также участвовавшие в эксперименте мыши были меньше подвержены раку, имели меньше воспалений в теле, а также обладали более здоровым кишечником.

По словам биолога Веры Горбуновой, проведенная ими научная работа доказывает, что долголетие голых землекопов можно передать и другим живым организмам. В рамках исследования ученые не интересовались тем, как именно гиалуроновая кислота увеличивает длительность жизни. Но существует предположение, что она напрямую регулирует иммунную систему и защищает организм от окислительного стресса.

Возможно, в будущем гиалуроновая кислота будет использоваться для обеспечения долголетия людей. Но когда именно такая процедура омоложения станет доступна для всех желающих, неизвестно. Скорее всего, придется подождать — авторы научной работы подчеркнули, что с момента открытия функции гиалуроновой кислоты в организмах голых землекопов до ее использования для омоложения мышей прошло 10 лет. Еще столько же, или даже больше, может потребоваться для использования на людях.

Кто такие голые землекопы
Голые землекопы — это небольшие грызуны с длиной тела около 10 сантиметров и массой примерно 35 граммов. Они полностью лишены шерстяного покрова, если не считать волосков между пальцами лап, которые помогают им рыть землю. У них большая относительно всего тела голова с выступающими передними зубами. Голые землекопы не имеют ушных раковин, но при этом обладают хорошим слухом — иначе широкий спектр издаваемых ими звуков объяснить нельзя.
Голые землекопы считаются вредителями
Грызуны живут под землей, на глубине около 2 метров. Они не любят жить в одиночку, так что собираются в колонии по 80 особей — есть сведения о существовании групп по 295 грызунов. Все они питаются подземными частями растений, поэтому наносят большой вред сельскому хозяйству. Благодаря получению жидкости из пищи, они не пьют обычную воду, из-за чего и могут без проблем жить в пустынных местностях.
