Может ли метеор сопровождаться звуком
Метеором называется явление, вызванное сгоранием в атмосфере Земли метеорных тел. Часто метеоры путают с метеоритами, но это разные понятия — метеоритом называется объект, а метеором — вспышка в небе, то есть само явление. Слабые метеоры называют “падающими звездами”, а метеоры высокой интенсивности — болидами.
Метеорными телами, которые вызывают звездопады, могут быть осколки комет, метеоритов, космический мусор и пр. Влетая в атмосферу Земли на огромной скорости, метеорные тела из-за трения разогреваются до высокой температуры и сгорают, а некоторые даже взрываются. Но почему ученые считают, что люди не могут слышать звук метеора? Все дело в том, что скорость света намного выше скорости звука. Даже гром мы часто слышим только спустя некоторое время после молнии. Расстояние же между наблюдателем и сгорающим в атмосфере метеорным материалом гораздо больше, чем между наблюдателем и молнией. Поэтому задержка должна составлять не секунды, а минуты. Соответственно, вспышка никак не может сопровождаться звуком, как утверждают очевидцы.
Действительно ли существует звук метеоров
Одним из первых астрономов, который понял насколько далеко от нас находятся метеоры, был Эдмонд Галлей. Он сам слышал звук, однако, учитывая расстояние между ним и метеорным объектом, назвал его “чистой фантазией”.
Можно было бы списать на фантазию людей все остальные случаи. Собственно говоря, долгое время ученые так и поступали, однако ситуация изменилась после события в 1978 году. После метеора над Новым Южным Уэльсом о звуках стали сообщать многие люди, которые не были даже знакомы друг с другом.

Окончательно все сомнения были развеяны после события в 1998 году над Монголией. Ожидаемого в тот момент звездопада не произошло, однако несколько метеоров все же наблюдались. Но самое главное, что впервые ученым удалось записать их звук. Кроме того, этот звук слышали многие очевидцы. Причем, он возникал не с задержкой, а в момент вспышки.
Отсюда можно сделать вывод, что звук от метеорного тела каким-то образом распространяется с такой же скоростью, как и свет. Это возможно только в том случае, если звук возникает не в верхних слоях атмосферы, а в нижних. При этом энергия, которая является его источником, передается какой-то формой электромагнитного излучения.

Сотрудники австралийского университета Ньюкасла предположили, что в звуках метеоров важную роль играют радиочастоты. Они часто сопровождают видимый свет, кроме того, легче проходят сквозь атмосферу, чем некоторые другие волны электромагнитного спектра.

В лабораторных условиях астрономы доказали, что радиоволны низкой частоты могут заставить шелестеть некоторые предметы, например, волосы человека или сосновые иголки. К слову, очевидцы сообщали, что звук метеора похож именно на шелест или шорох. Такой же звук описывал и Эдмонд Галлей. Правда, некоторые очевидцы описывали этот звук иначе — как хлопки или свист.
В 2017 году сотрудники Национальной лаборатории Сандия предложили другую теорию, согласно которой, звук вызван ярким светом. Причем команда даже продемонстрировала, что парики издают шорох, если на них воздействовать светом нужной частоты. Скорее всего, человеческие волосы издают такой же шорох при воздействии на них аналогичным светом.
К сожалению, проверить на практике какая версия верна, и верна ли вообще хоть одна из них, не представляется возможным. Метеоры, которые издают звук, непредсказуемы, то есть невозможно предугадать, где и когда они возникнут. Однако можно предположить, что первая версия все же более правдоподобная. Дело в том, что некоторые “шумные” метеоры не были очень яркими, кроме того, размер объектов был совсем небольшим.
