Тот факт, что мы классифицируем друг друга в социальном плане, едва ли кого-то удивит. Результаты работы, опубликованной недавно в журнале Scientific Reports подтверждают это. Авторы исследования попросили 256 человек из США предсказать социальные и политические убеждения других людей. Среди участников было 119 мужчин и 137 женщин, средний возраст которых составил 45 лет. Группы испытуемых были разделены поровну между теми, кто придерживался «левых» и «правых» политических взглядов.

Всех участников исследования попросили ответить, в какой степени они согласны с теми или иными утверждениями (например «иммигранты полезны для общества»), а затем показали им ответы других людей, которым был задан тот же вопрос. Если испытуемый утвердительно отвечал на вопрос о пользе иммигрантов для общества, ему предлагали обсудить этот вопрос с человеком, придерживающимся противоположной точки зрения. Результаты, как уже догадался уважаемые читатель, оказались неутешительными.
Гордость и предубеждение
Итак, когда мы знаем, что наш собеседник не согласен с нашей точкой зрения в том или ином вопрос, то просим его высказаться по другому вопросу, например, о легализации однополых браков. Как обнаружили авторы научной работы, испытуемые полагали, что люди, выступающие против иммиграции, также выступают против однополых браков.
Затем исследователи попросили участников повторить задание с различными убеждениями как для членов «своей группы», так и для других участников. Каждый раз, когда кто-то предсказывал, что думает другой человек, его просили указать, насколько он уверен в правильности своего прогноза по шкале от «совсем не уверен» до «уверен». Исследователи обнаружили, что люди были неизменно уверены в точности своих прогнозов (на 75%), однако сильно ошибались, оценивая точку зрения своих оппонентов (на целых 60%).

Совсем по-другому обстояло дело с прогнозированием мнений членов «внешней группы»: чем больше члены «своей группы» были уверены в себе, тем больше была вероятность того, что они ошибались на счет своих оппонентов. Полученные результаты показывают, что люди, зачастую, ошибочно полагают, что хорошо понимают тех, кто придерживается противоположных взглядов, чем есть на самом деле.
Свой-чужой
Авторы научной работы отмечают, что мы, как правило, лучше понимаем членом собственной группы, так как чаще и больше взаимодействуем с ними. Более того, мы начинаем лучше понимать индивидуальность «своих» и проще принимаем их различные взгляды и убеждения. Грубо говоря, мы уверены, что понимаем «своих», и благодаря опыту общения с ними, нам это обычно удается.
Напротив, наше представление о членах «внешней группы» часто ограничивается тем, что мы слышали о них в новостях, от знакомых или в социальных сетях. Если эта информация чрезмерно упрощена или неточна, то, как и любая другая дезинформация, она порождает общепринятые заблуждения о «чужих» и взглядах, которых они придерживаются.

На этот раз они рассказали испытуемым, верны их прогнозы или нет.
Полученные результаты показали, что, если информировать людей об их неверных предположениях о членах «внешней группы», они начинают делать более точные прогнозы и лучше понимать, с какими людьми смогут с большей вероятностью найти общий язык.
