НАСА на месяц отложило выход своих астронавтов в открытый космос после двух неудачных попыток. Первая была совершена 13 июня, затем астронавты попытались покинуть МКС 24 июня. После очередной неудачи мероприятие было запланировано на 2 июля, но уже 28 июня стало известно, что оно состоится только в конце месяца, причем точная дата пока неизвестна. Причина всех неудач связана со скафандрами. Похоже у космического агентства сложилась с ними тяжелая ситуация. Скафандры уже настолько старые, что могут убить астронавтов, однако новые у них в ближайшее время вряд ли появятся.

Почему НАСА переносит выходы в открытый космос
13 июня выход в открытый космос двух астронавтов Мэтта Доминика и Трейси Дайсон продлился всего 31 минуту, вместо запланированных шести с половиной часов. Его пришлось досрочно прервать из-за “дискомфорта”, который почувствовал Мэтт Доминик. О характере “дискомфорта” НАСА ничего не сообщает, хотя формулировка сама по себе довольно странная, учитывая, что скафандры доставляют астронавтам серьезный дискомфорт даже в идеальных условиях.
Во время второй попытки выход в открытый космос вообще не состоялся. На этот раз причиной стала утечка из шлангокабеля обслуживания и охлаждения (SCU). По словам Астронавта Трейси Дайсон, она видела как кристаллы льда вырывались из шлангокабеля подобно метели.
В момент когда астронавты обнаружили утечку, они находились в шлюзе с открытой внешней дверью, но сразу закрыли ее после отмены выхода. Если бы инцидент произошел в космосе, жизнь астронавта оказалась бы под угрозой.
Надо сказать, что это уже далеко не первый случай, когда у астронавтов возникает утечка охлаждающей жидкостью. Например, в 2022 году у астронавта произошла утечка воды в шлем. Аналогичная ситуация случилась в 2014 году с итальянским астронавтом Лукой Пармитано — в его шлеме скопилось около полутора литров воды, которая мешала обзору и дыханию.
Неисправные скафандры были доставлены на Землю, однако инженерам NASA не пока удалось обнаружить причину утечки воды. Поэтому астронавтам запрещено покидать МКС для выхода в открытый космос. В настоящее время работы над выяснением причины произошедшего продолжаются. Поэтому, как сообщает издание Space, выход в открытый космос отложен до конца июля.
Скафандры космонавтов — что они собой представляют
Уже долгое время НАСА использует скафандры Extravehicular Mobility Unit. Они состоят из двух основных элементов — внешней части, то есть самого скафандра, и системы жизнеобеспечения. Внешняя герметичная часть обеспечивает поддержку давления в условиях вакуума. Система жизнеобеспечения (рюкзак, который надевают астронавты в открытом космосе), обеспечивает астронавта кислородом, удаляет углекислый газ, а также обеспечивают отвод тепла. Для этого в скафандре предусмотрено множество трубок, по которым циркулирует вода.
Казалось бы, зачем вообще охлаждение, если в космосе и так очень холодно. Однако следует учитывать, что скафандр герметичен, кроме того, астронавты надевают плотно прилегающую одежду из спандекса. Поэтому система охлаждения действительно жизненно необходима.
Почему скафандры EMU выходят из строя
Главная проблема скафандров НАСА заключается в том, что они очень старые. Разработка EMU началась еще в далеком 1974 году во времена космических шаттлов. Первый выход в космос в таком скафандре состоялся в 1983 году. А в 1984 году состоялся первый выход астронавта в открытый космос без страховки. Однако вскоре выяснилось, что EMU не соответствуют всем требованиям NASA.
В 1990 году начались работы по обновлению скафандров, и уже в 1998 году обновленный EMU был использован для выхода в открытый космос. Изначально эти скафандры рассчитывались на использование в течение 15 лет, однако они эксплуатируются по сей день.
Но это не единственная проблема. Скафандров EMU у НАСА осталось очень мало. Изначально их всего было изготовлено 18 штук. В настоящее время на МКС находится 4 скафандра, еще 7 обслуживаются на Земле. Остальные окончательно вышли из строя или были потеряны в результате неудачных миссий.
Астронавты НАСА не смогут выходить в открытый космос?
В настоящее время агентству не хватает скафандров маленьких размеров. Однако даже те скафандры, которые имеются, похоже, тоже находятся не в самом лучшем состоянии. Они и так прослужили гораздо дольше, чем планировалось, кроме того, не всегда вовремя обслуживались.

Еще в 2022 году НАСА заключила контракт с компанией Collins Aerospace на поставку новых скафандров к январю 2024 года. Сумма контракта составляла 97 миллионов долларов. Однако в итоге Collins Aerospace его разорвали. Это значит, что в ближайшее время новые скафандры не появятся, поэтому выход в открытый космос может оказаться под угрозой.
