Викинги давно известны своими необычными традициями захоронений. Например, своих вождей они хоронили в кораблях, которые археологи теперь находят в курганах. Нынешним летом исследователи обнаружили в Норвегии очередной курган, который содержит древний корабль, а точнее, то, что от него осталось. Находку нельзя было назвать сенсационной, однако результаты датирования ученых сильно удивили. Корабль был создан в 700 году до нашей эры. Это очень странно, так как эпоха викингов началась гораздо позже — в 790-ых годах нашей эры. В частности, самые древние захоронения с кораблями в Норвегии датируются концом VIII века нашей эры. Но кому же тогда принадлежит корабль?

Самый древний захороненный корабль
Совсем недавно мы рассказывали о том, что ученые обнаружили в Норвегии захороненный корабль викингов, возрастом 1200 лет в кургане Зальхушхауген. На этот раз внимание археологов привлек курган Херлаугсхауген в Леке, муниципалитете в центральной Норвегии, который расположен на побережье известного многовекового судоходного пути. Поэтому наличие кургана с кораблем не является чем-то необычным.
Сам курган привлек ученых своими размерами. Он имеет длину 60 метров и высоту 7 метров. Такой курган вполне может вместить в себя судно. Большинство других курганов, которые находятся в этом регионе, имеют диаметр от 8 до 12 метров, то есть гораздо меньше. Во время раскопок археологи обнаружили несколько больших заклепок, которые использовались для скрепления элементов судна, а также деревянные части корабля. Все эти элементы неплохо сохранились.
Уникальная археологическая находка
Как сообщает издание Live Science, радиоуглеродное датирование древесины показало, что корабль был построен около 700 года до нашей эры. Это значит, что курган является самым древним из известных, которые содержат корабль внутри. Кроме того, находка сокращает временной разрыв между скандинавской традицией хоронить людей в кораблях, и некрополем в Саттон-Ху в Англии, датируемым VI-VII веками.
Кроме того, исследование дает археологам представление об истории захоронений кораблей в регионе. Очевидно, она началась задолго до эпохи викингов. Более того, находка говорит о том, что люди из этого региона были опытными мореплавателями и умели строить большие корабли гораздо раньше, чем предполагали ученые.

Курган с кораблем находится на побережье древнего морского пути
Кроме того, находка уникальна тем, что она была сделана гораздо севернее, чем все предыдущие курганы с кораблями. Это говорит о том, что контакты и морские традиции были распространены на больших территориях задолго до эпохи викингов.
Древний курган в Норвегии
Некоторые местные документы говорят о том, что на месте кургана, где обнаружен корабль, велись раскопки несколько раз еще в XVIII веке. Согласно письменным отчетам, тогда было обнаружено много интересных артефактов, среди которых бронзовый котел, скелет с мечом, часть стены, железные гвозди и некоторые другие изделия. К сожалению, в начале XX века многие артефакты из кургана были потеряны.
Но, самым ценным и необычным артефактом является, конечно же, корабль. Исследователи продолжают работу, чтобы воссоздать его внешний вид и определить предназначение. Основная часть корабля остается пока еще не раскопанной. Как мы уже сказали выше, чаще всего корабли использовались в те времена для воинов, которые нападали на прибрежные территории и грабили.

Однако, следует учитывать, что корабль был построен до викингов. Поэтому он вполне мог быть и торговым. В этот период времени обмен товарами должен был быть очень обширным. Очевидно, товары перевозились на кораблях вдоль побережья. Возможно, в ходе дальнейших раскопок ученым удастся не только выяснить тип древнего корабля, но также определить кому он принадлежал.
