Ученые разработали новый тип технологии беспроводной связи в видимом свете (VLC). Эта технология позволяет передавать данные при помощи обычных бытовых осветительных приборов. По мнению авторов, эта технология в скором будущем сможет применяться наряду с Wi-Fi или даже сможет вытеснить его, так как имеет ряд ключевых преимуществ. Кроме того, что VLC теоретически позволяет в 100 раз быстрее передавать данные, так как свет гораздо быстрее распространяется, чем электромагнитные волны, технология не восприимчива к помехам, а также позволяет снизить количество ошибок при передаче данных.

Технология беспроводной связи в видимом свете
Надо сказать, что над технологиями Li-Fi, то есть позволяющими передавать данные беспроводным способом при помощи света, ученые работают давно. В 2015 году мы рассказывали о первом роутере для Li-Fi.
В 2018 году компания Philips тестировала технологию Li-Fi в офисах. Однако технология, не смотря на свою перспективность, не получила широкого распространения, так как имела много недостатков. Например, источник света должен быть включен постоянно и для него необходима прямая видимость, то есть между приемником и передатчиком не должно быть преград. Причем технология не работала за пределами помещений.

Кроме того, система VLC с применением общего белого света показала низкую стабильность и точность передачи данных из-за помех. Белый свет от других источников, например с окна, вызывает большое количество ошибок. Однако теперь ученым удалось усовершенствовать технологию, благодаря чему многие недостатки были устранены.
VLC беспроводная связь
Чтобы улучшить технологию, ученые использовали белый свет, образованный тремя цветами — красным, синим и зеленым (RGB). Для этого они использовали массив органических светодиодов (OLED). Это позволило уменьшить влияние помех на передачу данных.
Кроме того, в качестве приемника авторы решили использовать матрицу органических фотодиодов (OPD). Исследование, результаты которого были опубликованы в журнале Advanced Materials, показали эффективность такого решения.

Технология OLED, как известно, используется в дисплеях бытовой техники, например, смартфонов, ноутбуков, телевизоров и т.д. Для генерации света у таких экранов используется органический слой.
Как говорят исследователи, технология OLED более безопасная для окружающей среды, кроме того, имеет более легкую конструкцию. Органические светодиоды также больше подходят для установки в приемники, поскольку они обеспечивают большую чувствительность на определенных длинах волн.
Органические же фотодиоды работают обратно по отношению к OLED. Органический полупроводниковый элемент поглощает свет и преобразовывает его в электрический ток подобно тому, как это делают фотоэлектрические элементы в солнечных панелях. Но при этом обладают большей чувствительностью на определенных длинах волн, поэтому лучше подходят для приемников.

В качестве приемника ученые использовали OPD светодиоды
В своем исследовании авторы настроили OPD для работы с оптическим резонатором Фабри-Перо, который представляет собой два соосных, параллельно расположенных и обращенных друг к другу зеркала. Между зеркалами может формироваться резонансная стоячая оптическая волна. Это позволяло создать сильные помехи для работы приемника. Тем не менее OPD среди световых волн обнаруживал определенные волны, которые передавали данные от массива OLED.
Кроме того, композитный источник света показал гораздо более низкий уровень битовых ошибок при передаче данных, по сравнению с обычным освещением. Об этом исследователи сообщают в журнале Advanced Materials. В будущем ученые планируют также добавить к своей системе канал ближнего инфракрасного диапазона (NIR). Это также позволит уменьшить проблемы с помехами и расширить рабочий диапазон системы.
