Потребность в более емких носителях информации растет буквально с каждым днем, так как увеличивается количество данных, которые мы генерируем — от текстовых сообщений до видео в разрешении 8k. Конечно, SSD и USB флеш-накопители со своей задачей пока еще полностью справляются. Однако, как уже было сказано выше, они позволяют хранить данных в течение 2-5 лет. По истечении этого времени производители накопителей не гарантируют сохранность информации. Поэтому над разработкой новых технологий работы ведутся постоянно. И, возможно, отчасти проблему уже удалось решить.
Группа ученых создала новый тип материала, который назвали “фоторезистом, легированным красителями с агрегационно-индуцированной эмиссией люминогенов” (AIE-DDPR). Особенностью данного материала является высокая плотность записи, то есть объемом данных, которые можно хранить на определенной площади. В этом плане они превосходят все другие существующие накопителя, включая жесткие и оптические диски.

Оптические диски надежные, дешевые и долговечные
По мнению ученых, данные оптические диски могут решить проблему хранения больших массивов данных в будущем. Они занимают гораздо меньше места, чем существующие методы хранения, более экологичные и, как уже было сказано выше — более дешевые.
Многослойная запись информации на молекулярном уровне
Высокая плотность записи на дисках AIE-DDPR связана с тем, что она осуществляется на молекулярном уровне, то есть представляет собой наноразмерную запись. Но самое главное, что запись осуществляется послойно. Причем количество таких слоев достигает несколько десятков. Для сравнения, Blu-ray диски позволяют записывать данные максимум в 4 слоя.
Для реализации многослойной записи, диск содержит два химических вещества — 2-изопропилтиоксантон (ITX) и пентаакрилат дипентаэритрита (DTPA). ITX представляет собой фотоинициатор, то есть вещество, способное реагировать на воздействие света. DTPA — это небольшая молекула с еще большей фоточувствительностью, то есть оно еще сильнее реагирует на свет.

Таким образом, использование двух разных веществ с разных порогом реакции на свет и обеспечивают высокую плотность записи данных. Для послойного считывания в диске использованы также два химических вещества — гексафенилсилол (HPS) и новый материал AIE-люминогены (AIEgens). Оба обладают высокой флуоресценцией.
Расстояние между несколькими слоями составляет менее одного микрометра (0,001 мм). Во время исследования, которое было опубликовано в журнале Nature, ученым удалось записать и считать 100 слоев данных. Для увеличения объема носителя, информация была записана на обеих сторонах диска, то есть как на виниловых пластинках и некоторых DVD дисках. В результате на одном диске удалось уместить 1 петабита информации, что больше, чем может быть записано на 5000 Blu-ray дисков.
