Как работает дымовая завеса
Для создания дыма применяют дымовые генераторы, дымовые шашки, дымовые гранаты или даже специальные дымовые машины, такие как ТМС-65 и ТДА-3. Впервые активно использовать дым как способ маскировки начали в XX веке в так называемых “тотальных войнах”.
Надо сказать, что для маскировки не всегда применяется дым, то есть продукты горения. Часто для этих целей используют аэрозоли, то есть мелкодисперсные взвеси, состоящие из микроскопических капель. Одна машина, такая как ТМС-65, способна обеспечить дымовую завесу протяженностью в несколько километров.
Надо сказать, что идея применять аэрозоли в качестве маскировки была придумана американцем, ветераном первой мировой войны Алонзо Паттерсону. Его идея заключалась в испарении нефти при помощи горячих газов. При смешивании с холодным воздухом, нефть конденсировалась в виде мельчайших капель, образуя при этом густой белый туман. Этот принцип применяется для образования аэрозоли по сей день.

Мешает ли дымовая завеса ракетам наводиться на цель
Дымовая завеса эффективна против беспилотных летательных аппаратов, а также надводных беспилотников, которые оснащены камерами. Например, дым позволяет скрыть уязвимые элементы конструкции, в результате чего беспилотники не могут их поразить. Также данный вид маскировки может быть эффективен против ракет. Но как же в таком случае координаты и спутниковая навигация?
Все дело в том, что в современных ракетах применяется сразу несколько систем навигации. Сигнал ГЛОНАСС и GPS можно подавить, в таком случае ракета использует другие системы. Кроме того, он спутниковый сигнал не обеспечивает высокую точность. Поэтому в ракету обычно загружаются точные радиолокационные и оптические карты, по которым она ориентируется, сравнивая их с фактическими данными местности.

Дымовая завеса мешает ПТУР наводиться на цель
Второе поколение подразумевает полуактивную систему наведения, то есть оператору необходимо удерживать (подсвечивать лазером) цель до попадания ракеты. Дымовая же завеса не только мешает оператору, но и не дает подсвечивать цель. То есть, если она возникает между ПТУР и целью, ракета теряет цель, словно она направлена в стену, так как дым блокирует луч лазера.

Правда, кроме дымовой завесы, для повышения эффективности защиты, применяются и другие средства, например, взрываются пиропатроны, которые отвлекают на себя ракеты с тепловым и оптическими наведением. В комплексе это позволяет танкам избежать поражения ПТУРом с разными типами наведения.
