В ходе недавнего исследования было выяснено, что в южной части озера Солтон-Си есть рассол, который содержит в себе огромное количество лития. По одним данным, оттуда можно извлечь 18 миллионов тонн лития — этого количества может хватить для обеспечения энергией около миллиарда человек. По другим оценкам, там содержится около 4 миллионов тонн металла, что тоже очень большое количество.
Если извлечь все это добро, добытый литий может полностью изменить наш мир. Речь идет не только о том, что производители смогут выпускать больше электроники. Это может привести к распространению электромобилей, которые не выделяют в воздух выхлопные газы — планета может стать в разы чище.
