По данным научного издания Science Alert, в 2022 году средняя температура на Земле увеличилась на 1,26 градусов Цельсия. В середине 2023 года этот показатель составит 1,5 градусов — по крайней мере, такой прогноз дают климатологи. К концу текущего столетия средняя температура на Земле может составить 2,5 градусов. Как остановить глобальное потепление
Недавно издание The Conversation выпустило статью, в которой исследователь Питер Ирвин предложил весьма необычный способ борьбы с глобальным потеплением. По его словам, уменьшить среднюю температуру на Земле можно распылив в воздухе частицы, которые блокируют солнечный свет. Результаты исследования 2013 года показали, что если затемнить Солнце примерно на 1%, средняя температура на Земле уменьшится на целый 1 градус Цельсия. Это очень хороший результат.

В 1815 году в Индонезии произошло извержение вулкана Тамбора, после которого в верхних слоях атмосферы появился густой туманный слой микроскопических частиц. Он сохранялся на протяжении нескольких лет, и привел к падению глобальной температуры Земли. То же самое произошло и после извержения филиппинского вулкана Пинатубо в 1991 году.
