Какой сложный многоклеточный организм может выжить рядом с эпицентром взрыва атомной бомбы? Большинство людей наверняка ответят, что никакой, но на самом деле это не так. Когда на Хиросиму была сброшена атомная бомба, одномоментно погибло около 140 тысяч человек, более 60 тысяч зданий были разрушены или сильно повреждены. Однако всего в нескольких сотнях метров от места взрыва удалось выжить некоторым деревьям. И что самое удивительное, они продолжают расти и по сей день, оставаясь живыми свидетелями той катастрофы. Уцелевшим деревьям дали название хибакудзюмоку, что означает “деревья после ядерной войны”.

Какие деревья выжили после взрыва атомной бомбы
По данным ученых, во время взрыва температура у поверхности земли колебалась в пределах от 3000 до 4000 градусов по Цельсию. Ствол ивы не выдержал мощной ударной волны, и был сломан. Однако дерево не погибло и продолжает давать побеги. Многие из них выросли и превратились в полноценные ветви. Помимо ивы также выжили многие другие деревья, среди которых эвкалипт, гинкго (одно из старейших деревьев на земле, произрастающее в Азии. Эти деревья пережили даже астероид, убивший динозавров), восточная хурма, вишня Ёсино и некоторые другие породы. В общей сложности в настоящее время в Хиросиме растут 62 дерева хибакудзюмоку.
Как и плакучая ива, многие другие выжившие деревья тоже получили серьезные травмы из-за ударной волны и последующего пожара. Но это не помешало им дожить до сегодняшнего дня. Но что самое интересное, многие здания, которые находились поблизости от этих деревьев, были уничтожены взрывом.
Похожая ситуация наблюдается и в Нагасаки, втором японском городе, который подвергся удару атомной бомбой в августе 1945 года. В настоящее время в радиусе 4 км от эпицентра взрыва растут не менее 50 деревьев хибакудзюмоку, о чем сообщает издание iftScience.

Разумеется, далеко не всем деревьям удалось пережить ядерную, а точнее, атомную катастрофу. Но как вообще им это удалось? Несмотря на то, что их кроны и ветви были повреждены, стволы уцелели, по крайней мере, частично, так как имели гораздо меньшую площадь, чем стены зданий. А как насчет радиации, спросите вы? Ведь деревья подверглись большим дозам облучения при взрыве атомной бомбы, а также на них обрушились радиационные осадки. Секрет заключается в том, что они более устойчивы к радиационному излучение, чем люди и животные. Например, наиболее устойчивые деревья, такие как тополя, могут без проблем выдерживать дозу радиации 50 Гр (5000 рад).
