Чтобы результаты были более точными, ученые сделали поправки на социально-демографические факторы, образ жизни участников, качество диеты и факторы психического здоровья. В итоге, сопоставив информацию, исследователи обнаружили взаимосвязь между высоким потреблением UPF и повышенным риском хронической бессонницы.
В целом участники исследования ежедневно получали 16% процентов энергии из продуктов UPF. На бессонницу жаловались 19,4% участников, при этом количество UPF продуктов в их рационе было более высоким, чем у других людей. Как уже было сказано выше, особенно сильно прослеживалась взаимосвязь между потреблением ультраобработанных продуктов и бессонницей у мужчин. Об этом авторы сообщают в издании Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

К сожалению, исследование ничего не говорит о причинах бессонницы и причинно-следственных связях.
