Размеры китовой акулы

Ученые пытались определить самую большую рыбу в мире на протяжении многих лет. В 2020 году на страницах научного журнала Frontiers in Marine Science был дан самый правдоподобный ответ — самой крупной рыбой на Земле является китовая акула (Rhincodon typus). По расчетам ученых, самки этих созданий в среднем имеют длину в 15 метров. Также есть сведения о том, что на нашей планете существуют 20-метровые китовые акулы. Некоторые особи китовых акул весят 20 тонн.

По словам рыбного биолога Марка Микана, несмотря на свои огромные размеры, эти создания растут очень медленно — примерно по 20-30 сантиметров в год. Времени чтобы вырасти у китовых акул предостаточно, потому что длительность их жизни может достигать 150 лет. Из-за того, что этот вид акул растет очень медленно, ученым и было трудно определить границы их длины. Чтобы быть уверенными в том, что они точно являются самыми крупными рыбами на Земле, исследователям пришлось на протяжении многих лет следить за 54 особями.

В ходе наблюдений учеными была обнаружена только одна беременная китовая акула. Действительно, эти создания редко рожают детенышей, но каждый из родов — это поистине удивительное явление. Дело в том, что большинство видов акул за один раз производят на свет от 2 до 12 детенышей. А вот китовая акула может за раз родить до 300 особей.

Где водятся китовые акулы

Китовые акулы распространены во всем Мировом океане. Они предпочитают теплые воды, но нахождение в тропиках не обязательно означает, что человек увидится с этим гигантом. Дело в том, что они встречаются очень редко, и в некоторых местах ареала их обитания особей больше, чем в других.

Опасность китовой акулы

Еще одним удивительным фактом о китовых акулах является то, что они питаются планктоном. Во время своего медленного плавания, они просто широко раскрывают свой рот и всасывают миллиарды живущих в воде крошечных существ.

Из-за отсутствия интереса к мясу и неповоротливости, китовые акулы не представляют для людей даже малейшей опасности. Как ловят китовых акул

На китовых акул люди охотятся так же, как и на китов — при помощи гарпуна. Обычно ловить их не составляет слишком большого труда, потому что они очень медленно двигаются. Также существуют истории, в которых рыбаки подплывали близко к этим созданиям и вручную продевали в их пасть большой крюк. После смерти акулы, люди вытаскивают огромное создание на сушу при помощи сетей.

Мясо китовой акулы подходит для приготовления блюд. Например, в Гонконге в 2010-е годы можно было встретить в продаже сушеные плавники китовой акулы. Цена этого ингредиента высока, и составляла около 300 долларов за одну штуку — обычно из нее варят суп. В Китае плавники китовых акул тоже можно встретить в продаже, каждый год сбывается по 1000 штук. Это не самый популярный товар, но некоторый спрос на него все-таки есть.

В некоторых странах вылов китовых акул строго запрещен. Начиная с 1990-х годов такие законы были выпущены на Мальдивах, Филиппинах, Мексике, Таиланде и некоторых других частях нашей планеты.
