От чего зависит продолжительность жизни кошек
Многие владельцы животных и даже ученые считают кошек лучшими творениями эволюции. Возможно это и так, однако в плане средней продолжительности жизни они недалеко ушли от собак. Например недавнее исследование, в ходе которого ученые проанализировали данные 8 тысяч кошек из Великобритании, умерших в период с 2019 по 2021 год, показало что кошки живут в среднем 11,7 лет. Об этом авторы работы сообщили в журнале Feline Medicine and Surgery.
Как выяснилось, породистые, чистокровные кошки живут примерно на 1,5 года меньше, чем помесные. Но помимо породы, одним из важных факторов продолжительности жизни оказался пол животного. Кошки-самки живут в среднем на 1,3 года дольше, чем коты. Также животным продлевает жизнь стерилизация или кастрация — в этом случае продолжительность жизни увеличивается на 1,1 года.

Бирманские кошки относятся к полудлинношерстным колор-пойнтового окраса. Согласно одной из легенд, порода появилась в Бирме, отсюда и такое название. Кошка узнаваема благодаря характерному окрасу, который так и называют — «бирманский окрас».

Надо сказать, что высокая продолжительность жизни бирманских кошек известна давно. Например, бирманская кошка Леди Каталина попала в Книгу рекордов, так как прожила 35 лет. Но этот не самый большой возраст. Мировой рекорд установила беспородная кошка из Великобритании Люси, которая в 2015 году умерла в возрасте 43 года. Считается, что по человеческим меркам она прожила 175 лет.
Какие кошки живут меньше остальных
Согласно результатам исследования, меньше всех живут кошки сфинксы. Средняя продолжительность их жизни в Британии составляет всего 6,7 года. Возможно, это связано с их генетической предрасположенностью к различным заболеваниям, в том числе сердечным, в результате чего они рано умирают.
Сфинксы являются одной из немногих бесшерстных пород. При ее выведении была использована естественная рецессивная мутация, которая привела к отсутствию шерсти. Порода была выведена около 50 лет назад, довольно давно, по сравнению с другими бесшерстными породами, такими как донской сфинкс и питерболд. Очевидно, уменьшение продолжительности жизни животного стало платой за избавление от шерсти.
