В штатах Аризона, Юта и Калифорния на поверхности земли стали появляться гигантские трещины. Причем совсем не те, которые возникают при пересыхании почвы, а похожие на настоящие разломы и провалы. Например, в Аризоне длина этих разломов составляет уже более 270 км. Впервые они были обнаружены еще в 2002 году, с тех пор за ними ведутся постоянные наблюдения. В основном трещины наблюдаются на равнинах между горами. В последнее время они стали представлять собой серьезную угрозу для домов, дорог, плотин и другой инфраструктуры. Некоторые эксперты даже назвали эти разломы национальным кризисом в США.

Почему возникли трещины в грунте в США
Как сообщает Геологическая служба Аризоны, трещины увеличиваются и уже представляют собой не гипотетическую, а вполне реальную угрозу. Более подробную информацию на этот счет предоставляет издание New York Times. Но откуда вообще они взялись? По словам экспертов, трещины являются признаком напряжения в грунте. Оно возникло по периметру больших участков в результате их проседания.
Но причина этого проседания совсем не та, из-за которой под землю проваливаются крупные города. Ранее мы рассказывали, что крупные мегаполисы проседают из-за создаваемого ими давления — почва уплотняется, а также из нее выдавливаются грунтовые воды. В данном же случае, по мнению экспертов, почва проваливается из-за откачивания грунтовых вод.
Длина трещин превышает 270 тысяч километров
Согласно исследованию, проведенному The Times, водоносные горизонты в США, которые снабжают порядка 90% систем водоснабжения США, истощаются катастрофически быстро. Скорее всего, они вообще не смогут восстановиться. Также в отчете сообщается, что каждые 4 отслеживаемые водоносные горизонты из 10 достигли исторического минимума. Связано это с тем, что откачка грунтовых вод происходит гораздо быстрее, чем их пополнение.
Даже если водоносные горизонты смогут восстановиться, для этого им потребуются сотни или даже тысячи лет. Однако, по словам экспертов, некоторые источники вод в Аризоне уже со стопроцентной вероятностью потеряны навсегда.
Дефицит водных ресурсов становится все более серьезным
Ранее мы рассказывали, что аналогичная ситуация сложилась в Европе — континент уже лишился большинства запасов пресной воды, сконцентрированных в водных горизонтах. Основная причина заключается в активной ее откачке. Но следует учитывать, что откачка на самом деле является вторичной причиной исчезновения водоносных горизонтов. Дело в том, что добывать грунтовую воду людей вынуждают сильные засухи, которые возникают на фоне глобального потепления климата.
Обвалы и разломы связаны с исчезновением водных горизонтов
К примеру, река Колорадо с 2000 года уменьшила свой сток на 20%, а в 2022 году вообще рекордно обмелела. Как мы уже рассказывали, проблемы с питьевой водой возникли у пяти штатов. Это вынудило фермеров полагаться на грунтовые воды, в результате чего темпы откачки увеличились. Кроме того, не стоит забывать, что засухи оказывают и непосредственное влияние на состояние водоносных горизонтов. Последние перестают пополняться, а также изменяют глубину залегания.
Все это говорит о том, что люди колоссальными темпами лишаются запасов пресной воды. Как говорит профессор Университета Талсы и эксперт по водным ресурсам Варигия Боуман, задатки “кризиса” уже идут полным ходом. Ситуация будет ухудшаться, но это давно уже не секрет для всего человечества.
К 2050 году Колорадо может потерять до 40% своих стоков
Как сообщает издание The Climate Reality Project, если температура в бассейне реки Колорадо продолжит повышаться такими же темпами как сейчас, то к 2050 году сток реки Колорадо сократится еще на 10-40%. Это значит, что запасы грунтовых вод продолжат сокращаться, соответственно, провалы грунта и появление трещин и обвалов земли продолжится. Временно проблему может решить лишь ограничение добычи, но это нельзя назвать полноценным решением проблемы.
