Совсем недавно мы рассказывали о том что в последнее время ученым удалось добиться немало успехов в области термоядерного синтеза. Например, в конце 2022 года впервые удалось получить чистую энергию, что долгое время считалось невозможным. Теперь же сотрудники Joint European Torus (JET) заявили о завершении заключительных испытаний термоядерного реактора. Во время этих испытаний был установлен мировой рекорд по количеству полученной общей энергии (но не чистой). По мнению исследователей, подобные испытания приближают человечество к использованию термоядерного синтеза в качестве источника энергии.

Реактор JET впервые был запущен в 1983 году в Англии. Он имеет «бубликовую» форму, известную как токамак. Но наибольшего успеха ученым удалось добиться во время последних испытаний реактора, которые прошли в декабре 2023 года. После их проведения, проект был закрыт, так как он достиг потолка своих возможностей. Теперь ученые займутся разработкой нового, более совершенного реактора.
Последний рекорд термоядерного реактора JET
Как сообщают представители JET, во время заключительных испытаний реактора, им удалось получить 69,26 мегаджоуля энергии из 0,21 миллиграмма топлива. Чтобы получить такое же количество энергии при сжигании угля, потребуется не менее 2 килограммов топлива. Это самое большое значение на сегодняшний день. Хотя этот показатель, как уже было сказано выше, не стал рекордным в плане эффективности термоядерной реакции, то есть по количеству чистой энергии.
Напомним что “чистой” называется энергия, которая превышает затраты на термоядерный синтез. В настоящее время эффективность термоядерного синтеза невысокая — удалось максимально получить лишь 150% энергии от затраченной. Однако, как мы недавно рассказывали, ученые обнаружили, что термоядерный синтез может поддерживать сам себя. Это значит, что затраты энергии могут быть снижены без изменения «выхода», то есть количества энергии, полученной в результате реакции.

Международный термоядерный реактор в настоящее время строится во Франции
В Британии построят новый термоядерный реактор
Процесс разработки термоядерного реактора будет не быстрым. Предположительно, он продлится до 2040 года. Но за это время ученые планируют получить больше информации о процессах, которые происходят внутри токамака. Кроме того, будущие исследования в этой области помогут разработать более безопасные способы утилизации радиоактивных отходов.
Вся полученная информация в ходе испытаний JET будет использована в Международном термоядерном экспериментальном реакторе (ИТЭР), огромном токамаке, который в настоящее время строится во Франции. Напомним, что его запуск запланирован на 2025 год. Он станет самым крупным термоядерным реактором в мире. Проект будет работать на основе того же принципа, что и JET, но в гораздо больших масштабах.
