Прямо в центре Мехико ученые обнаружили древнее поселение. Оно расположено всего в 2,4 километрах к северо-западу от исторического центра города. Как показали предварительные исследования, деревня датируется 450–650 годами нашей эры. По мнению археологов, им удалось обнаружить руины деревни Теотиуакан, которая располагалась в 40 км от древнего одноименного мегаполиса. Обнаруженные артефакты свидетельствуют о том, что здесь жило сообщество ремесленников. Очевидно, селение возникло в период расцвета города Теотиуакан и существовало за счет торговых связей с мегаполисом. Фактически, это был древний город-спутник, который обеспечивал снабжение крупнейшего в древней Америке города.

Археологи обнаружили в Мехико древнее селение со множеством керамики и прочих артефактов
Древнее селение Теотиуакан
По словам археологов, находка говорит о том, что на островках внутри озера Тескоко, на котором впоследствии был основан город Мехико (после осушения озера), люди постоянно жили еще 1300 лет назад. Деревня была одним из нескольких селений, расположенных возле мегаполиса Теотиуакан. Эти поселения поддерживали себя за счет сельского хозяйства, рыболовства и ремесленничества.
В период, когда Теотиуакан был на пике своего развития, жители этих городков продавали свои товары в мегаполисе. Археологи утверждают, что находка проливает свет на систему снабжения города.
Напомним, что Теотиуакан — самый первый большой город в Америке. Он расположен в 56 км от современного Мехико. Город был основан примерно в 100 г. до нашей эры, и существовал до 550 года нашей эры. Он имел площадь в 36 квадратных километров и был самым густонаселенным городом во всей Америке, так как его население в пик расцвета превышало 100 тысяч человек.
Теотиуакан — самый древний крупный город во всей Америке
Теотиуакан был мультинациональным городом, так как в нем жили майя, миштеки, сапотеки и прочие народы. Пика населения он достиг к 400 году до нашей эры. В этот период Теотиуакан был политическим, культурным, экономическим и религиозным центром региона. Ранее мы рассказывали, что город известен своими монументальными строениями, самым известным из которых является пирамидой Солнца — ее высота составляет 64 метра.
Интересные археологические находки в деревне Теотиуакан
Впервые следы существования древней деревни археолог Франсиско Гонсалес Руль обнаружил еще в 60-х годах во время строительных работ в Мехико. Однако основные раскопки происходили уже во втором тысячелетии. Большая часть архитектуры селения скрыта под современным городом. Однако место, где проводились раскопки, было нетронуто строительством, что и позволило археологам провести работы.
Еще во времена первых раскопок Франсиско Гонсалес Руль предположил, что жители деревни были собирателями и рыбаками. Недавнее исследование подтвердило это, а также показало, что среди местных жителей были художники и ремесленники. Что интересно, по словам Майкла Смита, профессора археологии Университета штата Аризона, для украшения стен домов и храмов, жители селения использовали ту же технику фрески, что и Микеланджело для росписи Сикстинской капеллы.
В селении было обнаружено несколько захоронений
В древнем селении ученым удалось обнаружить несколько невиданных ранее архитектурных сооружений, среди которых каналы и артезианская скважина, ямы для столбов и пр. Кроме того, на территории всего селения была разбросана всевозможная керамическая посуда.
Согласно предыдущему исследованию, опубликованному в журнале PLOS One, обнаруженная керамика принадлежит разным временным периодам. Одна часть посуды имела характерные черты периода Холалпан (350–550 года нашей эры). Другая — относится к более позднему периоду Метепек (550–600 годам нашей эры). Исследователи планируют провести химический анализ керамики, что, по их мнению, раскроет информацию о торговле с Теотиуаканом.

Кроме того, во время раскопок археологи наткнулись на три человеческих захоронения, которые содержали скелеты двух взрослых и одного ребенка. В настоящее время раскопки завершены. Археологи занялись анализом обнаруженных артефактов и костей. Вполне возможно, удастся узнать какой народ жил в этом селении. Поэтому в ближайшее время может появиться больше интересной информации.
