Недавнее исследование показало, что на Земле растет температура не только воздуха и воды в мировом океане, но и грунта под городами. По словам ученых, изменение подземного климата представляет собой тихую, но серьезную опасность.
Как известно, многие материалы при нагреве расширяются. То же самое касается и почвы, которая при нагреве начинает набухать и подниматься, но при этом изменяется их прочность. В результате под весом зданий грунт уплотняется, то есть происходит его усадка. Существующие же строения не рассчитаны на то, чтобы противостоять таким деформациям почвы.
Почему вообще происходит изменение подземного климата? Исследование показало, что нагрев связан не только с глобальным потеплением климата. Основной причиной является потерей тепла зданиями. То есть здания, подземные сооружения, трубопроводы и силовые кабеля выделяют тепло, в результате чего температура грунта под ними повышается. Таким образом возникают подземные городские острова тепла.

Под Чикаго находится глинистая почва, которая при нагреве тоже деформируется. В результате многие фундаменты зданий подвергаются осадке, пусть и очень медленной. Со временем эта усадка теоретически может стать критичной, что повлияет на прочность и устойчивость зданий.
Как изменение подземного климата влияет на инфраструктуру городов
Чтобы исследовать влияние изменения подземного климата на инфраструктуру, исследователи установили 150 датчиков температуры в районе города Чикаго-Луп, который считается бизнес-центром. Кроме того, для сравнения показаний, датчики были установлены в сельской местности Иллинойса.
Как сообщается в журнале Communications Engineering, часто температура под городом на 10 градусов по Цельсию выше, чем на участках вдали от зданий. Кроме того, температура в подземных сооружениях, к примеру паркингах и метро, может быть на 25 градусов выше, чем температура земле в сельской местности.

Полученные данные ученые использовали для компьютерного моделирования. Вначале модель показала как изменилась температура грунта с 1951 года до наших дней. Результаты соответствовали данным, полученным при помощи датчиков, что говорит о точности созданной модели. Затем при помощи той же модели авторы работы симулировали изменение подземного климата до 2051 года, чтобы выяснить как изменится температура грунта и как он деформируется в ближайшие десятилетия.
Исследование показало, что под воздействием высокой температуры грунт расширится и поднимется вверх на 12 миллиметров. Однако под воздействием веса зданий он сожмется и опустится вниз на 8 мм. Эти изменения, конечно, не приведут к тому, что здания начнут рушиться и падать. Однако эти процессы вызывают появление трещин в фундаментах и чрезмерную их усадку.
По мнению других ученых, эти движения недостаточно велики, чтобы вызвать серьезное беспокойства в ближайшие десятилетия. Однако речь только о Чикаго. Вполне возможно, что под другими городами грунт нагрелся сильнее. Кроме того, другие типа почвы могут сильнее реагировать на температурные изменения. В таком случае угроза может быть действительно серьезной.

Как не допустить оседания городов из-за нагрева грунта
Как мы сказали выше, в основном сами здания нагревают грунт под собой. Поэтому исследователи предлагают достаточно простой способ решения проблемы — использовать теплоизоляцию фундаментов и подземных сооружений при их строительстве. Также в эффективной теплоизоляции нуждаются системы отопления и горячего водоснабжения.
