Слезы женщин подавляют агрессию на химическом уровне
Запах слез делают мужчин добрее
В своем эксперименте Сотрудники Института Вейцмана попросили шесть женщин посмотреть печальный фильм, и во время его просмотра собрали слезы. Затем они попросили 25 мужчин-добровольцев поиграть в компьютерную игру. Во время игрового процесса они периодически выигрывали деньги, но виртуальный партнер их воровал, в результате чего участники эксперимента начинали раздражаться.
На определенном этапе у игроков появилась возможность отомстить вору, чтобы он потерял украденные деньги. Правда, самому игроку эти деньги не возвращались, то есть никакой выгоды от мести они не получали помимо морального удовлетворения. Перед игрой всем добровольцам давали понюхать солевой раствор либо настоящие женские слезы. Результаты исследования показали, что у игроков, понюхавших настоящие слезы, агрессия и желание мстить снижалось более чем на 43%.

Чтобы убедиться, что выводы сделаны верно, исследователи визуализировали работу мозга участников эксперимента при помощи фМРТ. В результате они обнаружили, что в агрессивном состоянии у людей определенные участки мозга работают особенно активно. Но, после того, как люди нюхали слезы, активность этих же участков мозга существенно снижалась. Это подтвердило факт того, что слезы подавляют агрессию. Причем эффект имеет широкую направленность, так как агрессия мужчин была обращена не к женщинам, а игровому персонажу.
Почему слезы подавляют агрессию
Ранее ученые заметили, что слезы самок мышей делают менее агрессивными самцов. Они перестают драться либо дерутся слабее и гораздо реже. Самцы землекопов даже используют слезы, чтобы сделать менее агрессивными других самцов. Для этого они наносят их себе на спину. В результате они реже становятся жертвами альфа-самцов.
Но животные, в том числе грызуны, имеют гораздо более развитое обоняние, чем люди. Почему же в таком случае люди чувствуют запах женских слез? Как сообщается в том же исследовании, мы обладаем как минимум четырьмя рецепторами, способными реагировать на летучие вещества, которые содержатся в слезах. Правда, пока еще не понятно, как именно реагирует мозг на активацию данных рецепторов, то есть почему именно подавляется агрессия.

Возможно, таким эффектом обладают не только женские, но и мужские слезы, а также детские. Однако ученые начали свое исследование с женщин, так как получить женские слезы получить гораздо проще — достаточно показать женщинам печальный фильм. Заставить же мужчин расплакаться гораздо сложнее, так как социальные нормы этого не позволяют, даже если мужчина смотрит фильм в полном одиночестве. Конечно, слезы могут возникать не только из-за эмоций, например, при резке лука. Но, как мы рассказывали ранее, в зависимости от ситуации, состав жидкости может меняться. Поэтому для точности исследования все же лучше использовать именно эмоциональные слезы.
Тем не менее, можно сделать выводы, что плачь является неким защитным механизмом, которым наделила нас эволюция. Выделяющиеся со слезами летучие вещества могут уберечь человека от чужой агрессии. Однако известно, что на некоторых людей слезы влияют иначе — вместо подавления агрессии вызывают еще большее раздражение. В чем же причина? Можно предположить, что у таких людей просто проблемы с обонянием либо срабатывают определенные психологические механизмы. Но это, скорее всего, не нормальное явление.
