Более 60 лет назад в Испании был обнаружен тайник с древними ювелирными изделиями, которые получили название “Сокровища Виллены”. Они включают в себя 66 предметов, большинство из которых выполнены из золота. С тех пор эта находка считается одним из самых важных примеров ювелирного дела бронзового века на Пиренейском полуострове и вообще в Европе. При этом у исследователей возникли проблемы с датировкой этих изделий. Датирование золотых украшений показало, что они были созданы в период между 1500 и 1200 годом до нашей эры. Однако среди них были изделия, выполненные предположительно из железа. Проблема состоит в том, что железо в регионе начали обрабатывать сотни лет спустя — только в 850 году до нашей эры. В недавнем исследовании ученым удалось разгадать эту загадку.

Археологическая находка из необычного металла
Среди множества сверкающих золотых сокровищ иберийского бронзового века внимание ученых особенно привлекали два сильно поржавевших предмета, которые могут оказаться самыми ценными. Эти изделия представляют собой подковообразный браслет и полую полусферу, украшенную золотом. Полусфера могла быть частью скипетра или рукоятью меча. Археологи назвали эти изделия “железными”, так как они покрыты характерной коррозией. Однако исследователи в своем описании указали, что изделия требуют подтверждения материала, из которого они выполнены.

Железная полусфера, украшенная золотом
Но даже в этом случае возникает вопрос — откуда взялся этот металл, ведь более 3000 лет назад железную руду в регионе не добывали. Поэтому более полувека на этот счет продолжались споры. Теперь же ответ на данный вопрос удалось получить благодаря анализу состава металла.
Загадка древних сокровищ
Железная руда из земной коры является не единственный источник ковкого железа. По всему миру археологи находят множество различных железных артефактов, созданных еще в бронзовом веке. Все они были выкованы из метеоритов. Наиболее известным из таких артефактов является кинжал фараона Тутанхамона, о котором мы рассказывали ранее, однако ученые также обнаружили много другого железного оружия.
Отличить железо, добытое на земле, от метеоритного на самом деле несложно. Последнее содержит гораздо больше никеля. Поэтому исследователи получили разрешение от Муниципального археологического музея Виллены на проведение анализа. Для определения состава металла, они использовали масс-спектрометрию. Несмотря на то, что изделия были сильно покрыты ржавчиной, которая сильно меняет состав материала, результаты показали, что изделия выполнены действительно из метеоритного железа. Железный браслет, созданный более 3000 лет назад
Полученные данные говорят о том, что полусфера и браслет из “Сокровищ Виллены” являются первыми древними изделиями, сделанными из метеоритного железа на Пиренейском полуострове. Это вполне совместимо с хронологией развития технологий в позднем бронзовом веке. То есть дилемму того, что эти два артефакта были созданы в то же период, что и золотые изделия, можно считать закрытой.
Правда, сами ученые утверждают, что украшения сильно повреждены коррозией, поэтому результаты нельзя назвать точными. Тем не менее, данное объяснение является в настоящее время наиболее логичным и вероятным, учитывая многие другие археологические находки бронзового века.
