На этот раз речь пойдет о не менее удивительном существе — пауке-колокольчике, или пауке-серебрянке (Argyroneta aquatica). Как и все остальные его собратья, он дышит воздухом, но при этом большую часть своей жизни проводит под водой, что делает его абсолютно уникальным. Как паук-колокольчик живет под водой
Argyroneta aquatica является единственным пауком, который живет под водой. “Колокольчиком” его назвали по той причине, что он создает себе из паутины подобие водолазного колокола чтобы дышать под водой. Когда “колокол” готов, паук переносит в него воздух с поверхности на своем волосатом теле.
Волоски этого паука покрыты особым жирным веществом, благодаря чему обладают водоотталкивающими свойствами. Между волосками задерживается воздух с поверхности, что и позволяет ему транспортировать пузырьки с воздухом. Когда паук достигает гнезда, он отделяет пузырек от своего брюшка задними лапками и направляет его в свою постройку. В результате внутри “колокола” образуется воздушный пузырь. Благодаря этому он лишь изредка поднимается на поверхность чтобы возобновить запасы воздуха.

Паук создает из паутины подобие водолазного колокола
В среднем размер “колокола” по размеру соответствует лесному ореху. Надо сказать, что самки строят более крупное гнездо, так как выращивают в нем потомство. Увеличенное гнездо позволяет самкам реже подниматься на поверхность. Самцы иногда покидают на зиму гнездо, и забираются в пустые раковины улиток. Вход при этом они плотно затыкают паутиной.
Как выглядит паук-серебрянка
Паук часто встречается в стоячих или медленно текущих водоемах Европы, а также Центральной и Северной Азии. Поэтому его можно встретить и в водоемах России. Кроме того, в Японии существует отдельный подвид Argyroneta aquatica.

Под водой паук из-за пузырька воздуха кажется серебристым
Надо сказать, что колокольчик имеет довольно крупное тело — самец вырастает в длину до 15 миллиметров. Самка немного меньше — до 12 миллиметров. Исследование, опубликованное в 2003 году в журнале Evolutionary Ecology Research показало, что самцы имеют более длинные передние ноги. Это значит, что они лучше передвигаются под водой.
Головогрудь паука буроватого цвета, переходящего в черный, часто присутствуют черные линии и пятна. На брюшке, как уже было сказано выше, множеством бархатистых волосков. На спинной стороне имеются два ряда точек. Однако под водой паук кажется серебристым, отсюда второе его название — «серебрянка».
Пауки-колокольчики поедают самок
У пауков, как известно, часто встречается каннибализм. Самым известным пауком, который поедает себе подобных, является черная вдова, самый ядовитый паук России. Однако в большинстве случаев самки поедают самцов. У паука-колокольчика все наоборот — крупные самцы иногда после спаривания поедают самок. Однако, как показало исследование 2005 года, самки чаще выбирают себе в качестве партнеров именно крупных самцов, несмотря на риск быть съеденными.

Крупные самцы после спаривания иногда съедают самок
Что касается мелких самцов, то им не повезло больше всего — их убивают и крупные самцы, и крупные самки. Но это не единственная необычная особенность Argyroneta aquatica. Не менее удивительно то, что самец и самка живут в колоколах рядом друг с другом.
Яйца самка откладывает в кокон из паутины возле гнезда. Иногда яйца откладываются прямо в “колоколе”. При этом, независимо от того, где отложены яйца, самка их тщательно охраняет.
Опасен ли укус паука-колокольчика
Argyroneta aquatica содержит яд, как и другие пауки, причем, по степени токсичности, он на третьем месте после каракурта и тарантула. Паук питается различной мелкой живностью, которая запутывается в нитях подводной паутины или которую он ловит сам, плавая в воде. Лишнюю добычу паук иногда подвешивает в своем гнезде, делая таким образом запасы на будущее.
