В августе 2023 года российская госкорпорация Роскосмос успешно запустила в небо ракету с межпланетной станцией «Луна-25». Она вышла в космическое пространство и на протяжении нескольких дней безо всяких проблем летела в сторону Луны. Согласно плану, исследовательский аппарат должен был совершить посадку на Южном полюсе земного спутника и заняться поиском воды для проведения будущих миссий. Однако, 19 августа станция стоимостью в десятки миллиардов рублей внезапно разбилась во время совершения маневра. Точное место падения аппарата «Луна-25» оставалось неизвестным, но недавно орбитальный спутник Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) нашел эту точку на поверхности Луны.

Поиск места падения «Луна-25»
Об обнаружении места крушения российской станции «Луна-25» рассказали авторы издания Space.com. Он должен был совершить посадку на южном полюсе Луны — ранее сделать это пытались космические агентства Израиля и Японии, но их попытки оказались безуспешными. Сегодня похвастаться успешной отправкой аппарата труднодоступные области Луны могут только Китай и Индия. В 2019 году посадку на обратную сторону Луны совершила китайская станция «Чанъэ-4», а в 2023 году на южный полюс сел аппарат «Чандраян-3».

Станция «Луна-25» должна была сесть недалеко от кратера Богуславский. Поэтому примерное место его крушения уже было известно. После крушения, поиском места падения аппарата начали заниматься специалисты агентства NASA — для этого они использовали спутник Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), который работает на лунной орбите с 2009 года.

Место крушения станции «Луна-25»
Орбитальный аппарат сделал снимок предполагаемого места падения «Луны-25» 24 августа. После получения фотографии, специалисты сравнили ее со старым снимком этой области — он был сделан в июне 2022 года. Ученые сразу же заметили отличие между двумя фотографиями. За последние 14 месяцев в интересующей их области появился кратер, и он с большой долей вероятности образовался недавно, как раз после крушения «Луны-25».

По расчетам ученых, диаметр кратера на Южном полюсе Луны составляет около 10 метров. Углубление находится примерно на 58 градусах южной широты, на крутом склоне лунного кратера Понтекулан G. Аппарат «Луна-25» не долетел 400 метров до места своей посадки. Поиск воды на Луне
Российская станция «Луна-25» была предназначена для поиска на Южном полюсе Луны воды, пригодной для использования в будущих космических миссиях. Особых сомнений в том, что там она есть, не было — в этой области предостаточно разных углублений, в которые никогда не проникал солнечный свет. Скорее всего, внутри них много замерзшей воды, которую можно растопить и использовать в технических целях, а после фильтрации даже для питья.

После неудачи с «Луной-25» госкорпорация Роскосмос не собирается опускать руки. В 2027 году в космос планируется отправить станцию «Луна-26», а потом за работу возьмутся и другие аппараты из этой же серии. Примерно после 2030 года ну Луну впервые в истории могут отправиться российские космонавты, но до этого нужно проделать много работы: создать мощный космический корабль, ракету-носитель и космические костюмы для прогулок по Луне. У американских астронавтов уже почти все готово — они собираются вернуться на Луну в 2025 году, в рамках программы «Артемида».

В августе российская станция «Луна-25» соперничала с аппаратом «Чандраян-3» — индийские ученые хотели сесть на южный полюс Луны первыми. Миссия началась 14 июля, аппарат несколько раз обогнул Землю и вышел на лунную орбиту 5 августа. Выйдя на 100-километровую орбиту, спусковая платформа отделилась от перелетного модуля и «Чандраян-3» успешно сел на лунную поверхность, несмотря на неровность рельефа.
