Днем 8 марта 2024 года житель флоридского города Нейплс столкнулся с очень неприятной ситуацией. Когда его не было дома, в его жилище упал тяжелый объект, который пробил дыру сразу в двух этажах. В этот момент дома находился его сын, он вполне мог получить серьезную травму, но все обошлось хорошо. Можно было бы подумать, что с неба упал обломок метеорита, но нет. Вернувшись домой, мужчина обнаружил объект, который явно был сделан руками человека. За несколько минут до падения аэрокосмическое агентство NASA зафиксировало вхождение в атмосферу Земли крупного фрагмента космического мусора. Сейчас владелец дома считает, что его имущество было повреждено частью Международной космической станции. Специалисты из NASA уже изучают объект, но предупреждают, что вина может лежать не на них.

Космический мусор упал на жилой дом
Владельца дома, пострадавшего от падения неизвестного объекта, зовут Алехандро Отеро. Его частный дом находится в небольшом городе Нейплс на территории американского штата Флорида.
Судя по записям камер видеонаблюдения, тяжелый объект упал на его жилище днем 8 марта в 14:34. Само собой разумеется, сооружению был нанесен ущерб: на полу и потолке сразу двух этажей образовались сквозные дыры. К счастью, никто не пострадал, хотя дома находился сын мужчины.

У себя дома Алехандро Отеро обнаружил не метеорит, а часть какой-то космической техники. Оно было сильно обгорелым, это намекало на то, что объект какое-то время пробыл в горячих слоях атмосферы, но не смог полностью разрушиться.
За несколько часов до этого инцидента специалисты NASA заметили, что в атмосферу Земли вошел крупный фрагмент космического мусора. Сначала он находился над Мексиканским заливом, а потом направился в сторону штата Флорида.

Самый крупный мусор сброшенный с МКС
Специалисты уже знали, что это за мусор. В марте 2021 года с борта МКС был выброшен поддон с батареями для питания станции. Они были нерабочими и занимали много места, поэтому их решили скинуть со станции в открытый космос в надежде, что они сгорят в атмосфере Земли.
На протяжении трех лет поддон свободно дрейфовал на орбите Земли, а потом был притянут планетой. К сожалению, полностью он сгореть не смог, потому что его масса была сравнима с двумя кухонными холодильниками. Это был самый крупный объект, когда-либо сброшенный с борта МКС.

Сейчас специалисты NASA изучают упавший на дом объект, чтобы удостовериться, что это точно космический мусор. Владелец пострадавшего жилища хочет получить от виновников компенсацию за причиненный ущерб, но процесс может сильно затянуться.
Дело в том, что батареи хоть и принадлежали NASA, они были закреплены на поддоне японского производства. Так что установить виновника может быть сложно, и мужчине придется ждать результатов долгого расследования.

Падение космического мусора на человека
Это уже далеко не первый случай, когда космический мусор падает на частную территорию. К счастью, случаев смерти от падения космического мусора еще никогда не было. Эксперты из NASA считают, что вероятность стать жертвой падения космического мусора составляет 1 к 3200. В истории есть лишь один известный случай того, как космический объект упал на человека. Это произошло в 1997 году с американкой Лотти Уильямс: на ее плечо упал обломок ракеты-носителя «Дельта-2». К ее большому счастью, фрагмент был небольшим и она не получила ни одной серьезной травмы.

Гораздо большую опасность космический мусор представляет для астронавтов. По расчетам ученых, сейчас на земной орбите находится примерно 128 миллионов кусков космического мусора размером более 1 миллиметра. Более крупных частиц размером более 10 сантиметров насчитывается 34 тысячи. Любой из этих объектов может попасть в вышедших в открытый космос исследователей и стать причиной их гибели. Из-за этого они иногда отказываются от вылазок из МКС.
