За всю историю самолетостроения существовало только два сверхзвуковых пассажирских самолета — французский Конкорд и советский Ту-144. Казалось бы, сверхзвуковой транспорт может существенно снизить время перелетов, что очень удобно, однако он не получил широкого распространения. Причина в том, что низкого уровня комфорта самих перелетов из-за чрезмерного шума, сверхзвуковые самолеты еще и доставляли дискомфорт людям на земле, создавая громкий хлопок (многие по ошибке этот звук называют “переходом самолета на сверхзвуковую скорость”). Однако команде НАСА удалось разработать «тихий» сверхзвуковой самолет Х-59, который при полете не издает громких звуков.

NASA 12 января 2024 года представило экспериментальный сверхзвуковой самолет X-59, над которым велись работы почти десять лет. Он был создан совместно с компанией Lockheed Martin. Как сообщается, самолет сможет достигать скорости в 1,4 маха, что равно 1490 километров в час. То есть он значительно превосходит скорость звука.
Главной особенностью данного самолета, как мы уже сказали, является то, что он не вызывает звуковой удар, который мы слышим как мощный хлопок, напоминающий раскат грома. Если говорить вкратце, во время полета на сверхзвуковой скорости, перед самолетом возникает зона высокого давления, которая расходится от него воронкообразно. Когда зона высокого давления проходит сквозь человека на земле, это воспринимается ушами как “хлопок”.
Отсюда следует, что для предотвращения хлопка, самолет не должен во время полета создавать область высокого давления. В попытке решить эту проблему НАСА запустило миссию Quesst — проект, целью которого было создание сверхзвукового самолета, способного летать “тихо”.

X-59 не создает хлопок благодаря длинной тонкой носовой части
Чтобы добиться успеха, инженеры придали самолету особую форму. Он имеет длину 30,3 метра, однако треть длины приходится на тонкий конический нос. В этом, собственно, и весь секрет X-59. Благодаря такой носовой части самолет преодолевает волны давления, без громких ударов. Правда, звук все же присутствует, но, как сообщается, это не мощный хлопок, а довольно тихий “стук”, который не доставляет дискомфорта на земле.
Когда самолет X-59 совершит первый полет
NASA хоть и представила свой экспериментальный самолет, тестовый полет еще не проводился. Причем, в ближайшее время ожидать его не стоит. Первоначально летные испытания X-59 были запланированы в 2023 году, но из-за “несколько технических проблем”, они были перенесены. Точная дата пока неизвестна, но ожидается, что самолет поднимется в воздух все же в нынешнем году.
Когда все работы и предварительные испытания будут завершены, команда НАСА выберет несколько населенных пунктов в США, над которыми будет осуществляться полет X-59. Следует отметить, что данный самолет не является прототипом будущих пассажирских сверхзвуковых транспортных средств, и после испытаний не поступит в серию. Полученные в ходе миссии Quesst данные должны лишь стать основой для сверхзвуковых самолетов будущего.
