Согласно официальным данным ВОЗ, в 2019 году от алкоголя во всем мире умерло 2,6 миллиона человек. В России, согласно данным Института измерения и оценки показателей здоровья, в том же 2019 году смертность от алкоголя составляла 19,4 человека на каждые 100 тысяч населения. В 2020 году этот показатель стал еще выше, в результате чего в общей сложности от алкоголя умерли более 50 тысяч человек. Это в несколько раз больше, чем например, количество погибших людей в результате ДТП.
Причины смерти от алкоголя бывают самые разные. Нередко люди умирают из-за алкогольной передозировки. Примером является нашумевший случай с белорусским блогером Алексеем Кунисом, который во время стрима выпил залпом бутылку водки и умер от передозировки. Также распространенной причиной смерти является потребление некачественного алкоголя. Согласно данным Росстата, в 2019 года из-за отравления алкоголем умерло 6000 человек.
