В недавнем исследовании приняли участие 58 экспертов в области продуктов питания, которые оценивали различные риски продовольственного кризиса. Правда, работа касалась только Британии, однако нехватка продуктов не может коснуться только какой-то одной европейской страны. Если проблемы коснутся Британию, то они наверняка будут глобальными.
В исследовании говорится, что нехватка продовольствия из-за экстремальных погодных явлений может возникнуть в ближайшие 50 лет, что приведет к гражданским беспорядкам. В дефиците скорее всего окажутся углеводы, такие как пшеница, хлеб, макароны и различные крупы.
Кроме того, эксперты считают, что кризис может возникнуть уже в ближайшие 10 лет. Правда, он скорее всего будет связан с неправильным распределением и сбоям в поставках, а не общей нехваткой продуктов. В результате могут возникнуть изолированные очаги голода. В 50-летней же перспективе голод может возникнуть из-за недостатка продуктов, например, по причине неурожая.

Глобальный продовольственный кризис 2022—2023 годов стал вообще одним из самых масштабных в истории. Он затронул 0,828—1,72 млрд человек в 82 странах. Из них 222—345 млн людей испытывали острую нехватку продовольствия или крайнюю степень голода. В 2022 году ежедневно от голода в мире умирали 19 тысяч человек.
Это кризис связан со многими факторами, в том числе и экстремальными погодными условиями. К примеру, в последние годы от сильной засухи страдают многие страны мира. В 2022 году с нехваткой пресной воды столкнулись США и Европа. По данным ВОЗ уже порядка 2 миллиардов человек испытывают проблемы из-за нехватки питьевой воды. По оценке многих экспертов, проблема нехватки воды приобретет глобальный масштаб к 2040-2050 году. Напомним, что проблемы возникают не только с водоемами, но и грунтовыми водами.
Вместе с тем, пандемия COVID привела к проблемам распределения и поставок продовольствия. В будущем же, если не будут предприняты соответствующие меры, продовольственный кризис может быть еще более масштабным.
