Самая большая из встреченных анаконд была длиной в 6,3 метра. Исследователи взяли образцы крови и тканей всех встреченных змей и выяснили, что гиганта можно отнести к совершенно новому для науки виду. При этом от других местных анаконд внешне змея мало чем отличается — различия с трудом находят даже специалисты.

Где и как живут анаконды
Анаконды являются самыми тяжелыми змеями в мире. Они обитают на территории Южной Америки, то есть предпочитают тропические условия. Обычно они живут в глубинах лесов, поэтому ученым трудно изучать их в труднодоступных местах.

Анаконда на дереве
Находясь в воде, анаконды поджидают добычу. Обычно они питаются птицами, млекопитающими и другими пресмыкающимися. Когда добыча приближается к змее, она резко на нее бросается, кусает и душит в своих «объятиях». Если верить открытым источникам, однажды 4,2-метровая анаконда смогла проглотить самку пумы весом 42 килограмма. Правда, во время этой охоты змея получила серьезные травмы.

Чем опасны анаконды
Их массивное тело окрашено в темно-зеленый цвет с темными пятнами, расположенными в шахматном порядке. По некоторым сведениями, длина анаконд иногда превышает 7 метров, однако научных подтверждений этому нет. Упомянутую выше особь длиной 6,3 метра можно считать самой длинной среди анаконд.

Сетчатые питоны обитают в тропических лесах, днем прячась в пещерах, а ночью отправляясь на охоту. Они тоже не ядовиты, но их мускулистые тела позволяют охотиться на обезьян и домашних животных. В некоторых случаях они съедали свиней массой в 60 килограммов.
